What this calculator does
This weeks to years converter switches between the two units in either direction, using the average number of weeks in a calendar year rather than a rounded figure. Because a year does not divide evenly into whole weeks, the conversion always uses an average: 52.1775 weeks per year, derived from the 365.25-day average year (including leap years) divided by 7 days.
That factor matters for anything that spans several years. Rounding to a flat 52 weeks per year is close enough for a single year, but the gap widens the further out the figure goes: over 96 years, using 52 instead of 52.1775 undercounts by roughly 17 weeks, more than four months. Whether you are converting 4,960 weeks to years or a smaller figure like 78 weeks in years, this calculator applies the same exact factor both ways.

When to use it
Converting a long time span
Figures like 1,000 weeks in years or 4,960 weeks to years are easier to picture as years; dividing by 52.1775 turns a large week count into a more familiar span.
Age or duration tracking in weeks
Some contexts, such as pregnancy tracking, infant development or certain medical timelines, are measured in weeks. Converting to years puts that figure alongside age or duration measured the more usual way.
Project or subscription terms
A term quoted in weeks, such as a 78-week payment plan, converts cleanly to years to compare it against an annual alternative.

Questions
How many weeks are in a year?
On average, 52.1775 weeks, using the 365.25-day average calendar year (which accounts for leap years) divided by 7. A specific calendar year has either 52 or 53 seven-day weeks depending on where it falls, but the average across years is 52.1775.
Why not just use 52 weeks per year?
For a single year the difference is trivial, but it compounds over longer spans. Over many years, using a flat 52 instead of 52.1775 undercounts the equivalent number of weeks by a noticeable margin.
How many years is 4,960 weeks?
4,960 ÷ 52.1775 comes to just over 95 years.
How many years is 1,000 weeks?
1,000 ÷ 52.1775 comes to just over 19 years.
