What this calculator does
Building a smooth-looking circle out of square blocks is a recurring problem in Minecraft, since a true circle has no straight edges and blocks only come in straight rows and columns. This minecraft circle generator works out which blocks to place for a chosen diameter, so you can lay it out directly without guessing corner by corner.
Enter the diameter you want in blocks and the calculator marks every block whose centre falls within that radius of the middle, producing a filled circle pattern you can read row by row and place in-game, plus the total number of blocks it will take.
The formula
Each block position is treated as a coordinate on a grid the width of the chosen diameter. A block is filled whenever its distance from the centre point is no more than the radius, following (x − centre)² + (y − centre)² ≤ r², the same test used by the classic midpoint circle algorithm. Reading the resulting grid row by row gives the outline to place.

It is capped at a diameter of 41 blocks to keep the grid readable on this page. Larger circles follow exactly the same distance rule, just extended further from the centre.
