What this calculator does
Days until is the plain question behind a deadline, a booking or an event still ahead: how many days until it actually arrives. Enter a target date and the answer comes back immediately, worked out from today, along with the same span in weeks and in business days for anything that only counts weekdays.
The target date can be anything at all, not a fixed occasion; a payment due date, a trip, an exam or, just as often, a specific date in December for holiday planning. If the date entered has already passed, the calculator switches to showing how many days since instead, so the figure still makes sense either way.
The formula
Today’s date and the target date are both stripped down to midnight, so the count is not affected by what time of day it is when the page is checked. The gap between them in whole days is the headline figure, given alongside the same span in weeks and as a count of weekdays only.

When to use it
How many days until December, or any other month
How many days until December 1st, or any other date later in the year, is answered the same way regardless of which month or date is entered; there is nothing December-specific about the sum itself.
Counting down to a payment, booking or exam date
A due date, a booking or an exam is usually a single known date, and the days-until figure is the plain answer to how much time is left before it.
Checking how many working days are left before a deadline
Some deadlines only care about business days, since weekends do not count toward the time available to act, which the business days figure gives alongside the plain calendar count.

Questions
How many days until December 1st, or another specific December date?
Enter that date, in whichever year is relevant, as the target date; the figure comes back the same way as for any other date, since the calculator is not tied to December specifically.
What happens if the target date has already passed?
The headline figure switches automatically from days until to days since, and shows how many days ago that date was instead of a negative number.
Does today count as one of the days?
No. The count is the number of whole days between today and the target date, so it reaches zero on the target date itself rather than the day before.
How is this different from the days from today calculator?
The days from today calculator starts from a number of days and finds the resulting date. This calculator works the other way round: it starts from a date you already have in mind and finds how many days until it.
