What this calculator does
A cubic centimetre and a millilitre are the same size. There is no conversion factor to look up and nothing to round: 1 cm³ is defined as one-thousandth of a litre, and 1 mL is also defined as one-thousandth of a litre, so the two units describe exactly the same volume under two different names.
This calculator converts cm3 to mL by simply restating the number, which is the honest answer to what looks like a conversion problem. It exists mainly so the equivalence is stated plainly and shown alongside the litre figure, which is useful when a recipe, medicine dose or engine specification quotes one unit and you need to compare it against a source using the other.
The formula
There is nothing to calculate: the millilitre value equals the cubic centimetre value, because both units are the same one-thousandth-of-a-litre volume by definition. The litre figure shown alongside is that same value divided by 1,000.

Questions
Is 1 cm3 really equal to 1 mL exactly?
Yes. Both units are defined as one-thousandth of a litre, so they measure exactly the same volume. This is a fixed definitional identity, not an approximation or a coincidence that happens to hold for water.
Why do some fields use cc and others use mL for the same volume?
It is largely a matter of convention: engineering and medicine have historically favoured cc (cubic centimetre), while pharmacy, cooking and most everyday liquid measurement favour mL. Both describe the identical volume.
Does the 1:1 relationship depend on what is being measured?
No. Unlike a mass-to-volume conversion, which depends on the density of the substance, cm³ to mL is a pure volume-to-volume relationship that holds for any substance, or for an empty space, without exception.
How do I convert cm3 to litres?
Divide by 1,000, the same as converting mL to litres, since cm³ and mL are interchangeable. 250 cm³ is 0.25 L.
