Weeks Calculator calculator

The date a chosen number of weeks from today or before today, from any starting date.

Published 21 August 2026

What this calculator does

This weeks calculator answers a simple, common question: what date falls a set number of weeks from today, or before today? Enter a number of weeks and a direction, and it counts forward or back in exact 7-day steps from a starting date, which defaults to today but can be changed to any date.

It is built for the everyday version of "how many weeks" questions, planning a due date, a project deadline, an event or a countdown, where the answer needed is a specific calendar date rather than a count of weeks between two existing dates.

The formula

FormulaResulting date = starting date ± (N weeks × 7 days)

Each week is exactly 7 days, so the calculator multiplies the number of weeks entered by 7 to get a day count, then adds or subtracts that many days from the starting date depending on the direction chosen. The result is the exact calendar date, along with the day of the week it falls on.

TermMeaning
WeekA fixed period of exactly 7 days.
Starting dateThe date the count begins from; defaults to today but can be set to any date.
DirectionWhether the result falls after the starting date (a future date) or before it (a past date).

The inputs explained

FieldWhat to enter
Starting dateThe date to count from. Defaults to today; change it to count from any other date.
Number of weeksThe number of weeks to count forward or back.
DirectionWhether the resulting date falls after or before the starting date.

When to use it

Working out a due date or milestone weeks away

A pregnancy, project or program milestone given as "12 weeks from today" resolves to an exact calendar date and day of the week.

Setting a deadline or reminder a fixed number of weeks out

A deadline set as "6 weeks from now" converts to a specific date that can be entered directly into a calendar or reminder.

Checking what date a number of weeks ago was

Switching the direction to "before today" finds the calendar date a chosen number of weeks in the past, useful for checking when a symptom, event or subscription period started.

Questions

How many days are in 12 weeks?

Exactly 84 days, since each week is 7 days (12 × 7 = 84).

How do I find the date a certain number of weeks from today?

Enter the number of weeks and set the direction to "after the starting date", leaving the starting date as today. The calculator adds that many weeks, in exact 7-day steps, to today's date.

Can I count weeks from a date other than today?

Yes. Change the starting date field to any date, then the calculator counts forward or back from that date instead of today.

Does this calculator account for months of different lengths?

It does not need to. A week is always exactly 7 days regardless of the calendar month, so counting in weeks and then landing on a calendar date automatically handles months of different lengths correctly.

For counting whole weeks and days between two existing dates instead, see the weeks between two dates calculator. For the ISO week number of a specific date, see the week number calculator.
