World Happiness Report - 2024

The World Happiness Report 2024, produced by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network in partnership with Gallup and Oxford University, provides an extensive evaluation of global well-being. The 2024 edition underscores the growing importance of trust, resilience, and social support in maintaining happiness amidst global challenges.

Key findings highlight the pivotal role of strong social networks, economic stability, and good governance in shaping national happiness outcomes. The Gallup World Poll data reveals that countries demonstrating higher levels of community trust and institutional transparency consistently report greater subjective well-being.

Use Cases

Finland continues to lead as the world’s happiest nation for the seventh consecutive year, with a life evaluation score of 7.7 out of 10. Notably, countries experiencing socio-political stability and cohesive community structures dominate the upper rankings. Conversely, nations facing conflict, economic hardship, and governance challenges are predominantly represented among the lowest-scoring countries.

The United States observed a further decline in its ranking, reflecting concerns related to social polarisation and reduced trust in institutions. The 2024 report also reinforces the correlation between communal activities—such as shared civic initiatives—and elevated happiness levels, offering evidence that societal engagement directly supports emotional resilience.
